Getting started will be easy for you. Get yourself a nice midrange disc and a putter. I'm a bit out of touch with the newest models, but Discraft's Comet is a great one to start with, but any mid-range that's not too overstable will do great.
Don't get a driver to start, it'll give you bad habits and if you throw the midrange right it'll go just about the same distance. That is, force you to develop good habits.
